On Saturday evening, January 4th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and the local emergency medical provider were alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway west of Layton Davis Road.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision.

It appears that various roadway crew were present on John J. Williams Highway performed road maintenance and utility pole repairs as a result of an earlier property damage incident.  The roadway was closed with traffic cones and directional assistance from private contracting firms when a motorist apparently did not see the cones travel through the cones striking a vehicle that was on the shoulder of the roadway.  Both vehicles sustained front-end damage and one person was transported to nearby medical facilities.
