Incident #1 Saturday February, 11 2012 @ 21:56:27 Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS Address: 24798 - 24851 John J Williams @ golf cart over pass @ Baywoods Millsboro, DE 19966 On Saturday evening, February 11th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of the golf cart over highway pass near the Baywood Golf Course. It was reported to have two vehicles involved with injuries and vehicles were located in the westbound traffic lanes. Emergency response included Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility. It appears that a white Ford Mustang and silver Chevrolet Cobalt collided causing significant damage to the Ford. The occupants of the vehicle did require additional medical observations. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control measures for the duration of the incident. Incident #2 Saturday February, 11 2012 @ 22:05:46 Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS Address: John J Williams Hwy and Bay Farm Millsboro, DE 19966 While enroute to the initial incident near Baywood Greens, Rescue 80 came upon a single vehicle accident involving a telephone pole and vehicle. The telephone pole was snapped in half, downed wires were an initial concern as well the condition of the vehicle’s occupant. It appears that this vehicle, a black Jeep, was traveling west on John J. Williams and lost control on the icy roads causing to slide sideways striking the utility pole. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control measures for the duration of the incident. Incident #3 Saturday February, 11 2012 @ 22:43:50 Nature: Vehicle Accident ALS Address: 28872 - 29051 Mount Joy Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 While cleaning up from the previous vehicle incidents, Indian River was alerted for a third vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road in the vicinity of Cannon Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle incident involving a roll-over. Emergency response units included Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility. It was determined a single white vehicle was traveling north on Mount Joy Road and lost control attempting to navigate a sharp curve during the icy conditions and rolled over into a wooded area. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control measures for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating the aforementioned incidents. 3 crashes in a hour near Long Neck Saturday night Indian River Fire crews were busy last night as the weather turned snowy with several accidents. Two cars collided just before 10 on Route 24 west of the entrance to Baywood Greens. The people in both cars were injured. While crews were responding to the crash near Baywood Greens, they came across a Jeep at Route 24 and Bay Farm Road. Officials say the vehicle hit a utility pole, snapping the pole and downing the lines. They believe the driver lost control on the icy roads. Slick roads last night were the cause of several crashes around the Long Neck and Oak Orchard areas. Indian River Fire crews were called for a single vehicle that rolled over on Mount Joy Road in the area of Cannon Road. Fire officials believe the driver lost control in a sharp curve on the icy road. |
