Sunday February, 5 2012 @ 14:41:42 Nature: Service Call Address: White House Beach Marina or Massey’s Landing Public Boat Ramp - Millsboro, 19966 On Sunday afternoon, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was requested to assist the Delaware State Police, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Control (DNREC) Marine Police, the Millsboro Fire Company Dive Team and the Selbyville Fire Company Dive Team with a vehicle recovery assignment. The specific incident request was for the Millsboro and Selbyville dive teams to assist with location and recovery of missing vehicle that was suspected of running in the water somewhere in the Long Neck communities. The Delaware State Police and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Control (DNREC) Marine Police performed patrols via water and ground in order to develop the appropriate location of the vehicle. The vehicle was discovered completely submerged in the waterway off of the Massey’s Landing Public Boat Ram. The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was requested to provide a marine unit response to assist if complications were encountered, an additional request for manpower resources was tendered to ensure sufficient resources were available if needed and then because of the temperature a Rescue unit was offered to ensure a warm climate if needed for the divers. The incident response included the following units: Millsboro Fire Company Dive Team, Selbyville Fire Company Dive Team, Indian River’s Marine Response Unit #80-8, Brush #80-00 with 80 Marine 2, Rescue 80, and the Delaware State Fire Police. It appears that the dark green Dodge Pick-up entered the water at Massey’s Landing sometime the previous Saturday evening for an unknown reason to the volunteer emergency response personnel. The divers secured the vehicle and attached chains, straps, and hoist for Bunting’s Garage to extract the submerged vehicle from the water. The Delaware State Police and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Control (DNREC) Marine Police are investigating. Dive Teams Recover Missing Vehicle from Massey’s Landing Boat Ramp
Delaware State Police and Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Marine Police today are trying to determine how and why a Dodge pickup truck ended up in the water over the weekend at Massey’s Landing in Millsboro. Sunday afternoon just before 3 o’clock, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was requested to assist DSP, DNREC Marine Police and the Millsboro and Selbyville Fire Company Dive Teams to recover the vehicle. It’s believed the vehicle ran off the boat ramp into the water Saturday night; no word yet on the identity of the driver. UPDATE – Millsboro man charged after truck pulled from Massey’s Landing Boat Ramp UPDATED – 02-06-12 –WGMD - State Police have charged a 48 year old Millsboro man after he made a false report that his truck had been stolen. Police say he and a woman tried to report the pickup had been stolen Sunday morning after they lost the truck in the water at Massey’s Landing the night before. The truck was hauled out of the water Sunday afternoon after dive teams made sure there was no one inside. David Lee is charged with falsely reporting an incident, conspiracy and other offenses. He’s free on $1200 unsecured bond.
