Wednesday February, 1 2012 @ 22:50:06 Nature: Vehicle Accident ALS Address: 27206 Buttercream Hills, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Wednesday evening, February 1st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle accident on Legion Road in the vicinity Buttercream Hills. It appears that a red Chevrolet Silverado pick-up was traveling west on Legion Road and lost control while attempting to round an extremely sharp curve. The vehicle traveled off of the roadway striking numerous mailboxes and a utility pole. The vehicle overturned on its side before striking the pole. Emergency response units included Rescue 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility. The Delaware State Fire Police were requested to coordinate traffic control measures for the duration of the incident. UPDATE: Millsboro Man Charged with 5th DUI After Crash UPDATED STORY: A 52-year-old Millsboro man was arrested by Delaware State Police Wednesday night following a crash on Legion Road near Buttercream Hills in Millsboro. Police say Rodney Jones was westbound on Legion Road just before 11 p.m. when he lost control while attempting to navigate an extremely sharp curve. The pickup then ran off the road, hit several mailboxes and a utility pole. Jones was charged with his 5thDUI, resisting arrest, offensive touching of a law enforcement officer, menacing, driving with a suspended license and not having proof of insurance; police say Jones had to be tased after a brief struggle with officers. Jones is behind bars at SCI being held in lieu of $6,000. ============================================== ORIGINAL STORY: Delaware State Police this morning are investigating a crash that occurred on Legion Road near Buttercream Hills in Millsboro Wednesday night. An initial investigation determined that a Chevy Silverado pickup was westbound on Legion Road just before 11 p.m., when the driver lost control while attempting to navigate an extremely sharp curve. The pickup then ran off the road, hit several mailboxes and a utility pole. No word yet on the identity of the driver or if there were any injuries.
