Nature: Multi Residential Structure Fire
Location: 35948 Haven Dr., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971
Early Friday morning, October 18th, the Indian River (80), and Lewes (82) fire companies were alerted to assist Rehoboth Beach (86) with a multi residential structure fire on Haven Drive outside of Rehoboth.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware Stare Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included manpower and resource assistance, fire suppression activities as well as any other assignment delegated by the Officers-in-Charge.
First arriving emergency response units found a 3-story condo building with heavy fire conditions in the rear of the structure. Firefighters worked from both inside and outside of the structure to extinguish the fire. Crews remained on scene for approximately 3 hours before clearing.
Additional resources from Bethany Beach (70), Millville (84), Milton (85), and Millsboro (83) fire companies were called to the scene. Many other fire companies provided standby coverage to those respective fire districts whose companies were operating at the fire ground. Ancillary resources were requested from the Sussex County Paramedics, Delmarva Power to discontinue the utility services to the complex as well as the American Red Cross to address the displaced occupants.
There were not firefighter or civilian injuries reported.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
