State Rep. Briggs-King, DNREC & DelDOT Host Workshop for Road Improvements to Reduce Flooding in Oak Orchard Area
MILLSBORO, Del - Delaware State Rep. Ruth Briggs-King on Wednesday invited the public to attend an update about projects that are intended to reduce flooding in the Oak Orchard area.
The meeting was held at the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company in Oak Orchard. In 2015, DNREC identified five sections of the community that required improvements to combat flooding. At the meeting, a DNREC representative presented a project proposal for each of the five areas. Some are in process and others will be in the construction stage sometime in the Fiscal Year 2020.
Briggs-King said she hopes residents left the meeting with a better understanding about the process of each project.
"I hope people have a better understanding of where we are on the projects, the work that's going to be done and the investments that are being made with their taxpayer money in this area to help alleviate part of the problem," said Briggs King.
Briggs-King said $700,000 in state funding has been allocated for Oak Orchard drainage improvements since 2010.
