Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Monday afternoon, October 14, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway between Willow Lane and Bulls Eye Lane.  It was reported to be a single vehicle into a tree.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization if necessary, traffic control and incident mitigation.

It appears that a white Ford pick up was traveling on John J. Williams Highway and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking a cluster of trees.  The truck suffered extensive damage. 

An additional mishap occurred when Rescue 80 attended to access the driveway near the incident and the weight of the truck sank into the soft ground requiring the assistance of the Bunting’s Garage.

The occupant of the vehicle refused additional medical attention.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.   Traffic patterns were altered during the incident as well as temporary detour  was imposed.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
