Friday October 11, 2019Nature: Nor Easter Flooding ConditionsLocation: Long Neck Road and Related AreasOn Friday, October 11, 2019, the Inland Bay Areas of the Long Neck area and surrounding communities encountered some Nor'easter type conditions throughout the day as water levels continued to rise as a result of the Subtropical Storm Melissa. It is expected that gradual weakening of the inclement weather is expected over the next couple of days and the subtropical characteristics will diminish late Saturday evening, October 12th.A subtropical storm is a meteorological term for a hybrid storm that has elements of both tropical and non-tropical storms and this is why the Inland Bay Areas are experiencing flooding conditions. These are typical tidal conditions as a result of a nor’ easter type storm however much of the wind and rain conditions were not present during this event.Illustrated are numerous photographs and aerial views of the area courtesy of Driscoll Drones or residents.Aerial drone footage:(1) Driscoll Drones https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xl9vHWJnZ9A.
