Thursday December, 15 2011 Nature: Annual Boys & Girls Club Holiday Appreciation Dinner Address: Oak Orchard, Dela. On Thursday evening, December 15th, the Community Church of Oak Orchard and the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company partnered to host the Boys & Girls Club of Oak Orchard-Riverdale for their annual Christmas Play at the Community Church of Oak Orchard and dinner provided and catered by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Co., Inc. Traditionally, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company has provided a catered dinner to the patrons (students) and parents of the Boys & Girls Club. This event is the capstone to an annual Christmas Play and Show performed by the students of the Club and held at the Community Church. Afterwards, the attendees walked across the street for the annual dinner hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary. This event is a community service project provided by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and approximately 160 persons attended. This year’s event was also attended by representatives of the American Legion Post #28 – Sons of the American Legion and their Ladies Auxiliary Unit as well. Every entity of the American Legion have handsomely supported the Boys & Girls Club of Oak Orchard. These representatives presented the Boys & Girls Club Vice President Toby Cullen with a check for student scholarships. Toby Cullen is the Boys & Girls Club Liaison with the American Legion and American Veterans organizations. Santa Claus also made a special presentation to each child in attendance.
