Nature: Life Member Recognitions

On Saturday, December 10th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company recognized two members for being award Life Memberships within the volunteer fire service.

Steven C. Deery, Jr.

Initially, joining the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company in January 1990 as Probationary Junior Member and serving 21 consecutive years and serving in many elected and appointed positions during his tenure Steven C. Deery, Jr. was presented with a distinctive life membership plague, a distinctive life membership license plate as well as his life membership identification card. Steven has served in the following fire line operation positions: Training Officer, Fire Captain, Third Assistant Chief, Second Assistant Chief, First Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief and Chief as well as many leadership positions in the Sussex County Volunteer Fire Chief’s Association.

James R. Wagner

Joining the volunteer fire services in December 1948 at the age of eighteen (18), and serving 61 consecutive years in both Pennsylvania and Delaware volunteer fire service, James R. Wagner was presented with a distinctive life membership plague, a distinctive life membership license plate as well as his life membership identification card. Jimmy has served in the following fire line operation positions: Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer, Deputy Chief and Chief as well as many leadership positions in the in the volunteer fire service. Jim is finishing his eighth consecutive year as Indian River’s Chief Engineer.
