Wednesday December, 7 2011 Nature: Annual Election of Officers On Wednesday, December 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company conducted its annual election of officers for both the administrative operations and the fire line operations. These annual elections resulted in the following positions: Administrative Operations: • President – Patrick C. Miller • Vice President – Roland F. Walker, Jr. • Secretary – Trey W. Mumford • Assistant Secretary – Candice L. Ruckle • Treasurer – Raymond E. Collas • Assistant Treasurer – Katherine Cupery-Thompson Fire Line Operations: • Chief – Steven C. Deery, Jr. • Deputy Chief – Eric G. Ruckle • First Assistant Chief – Ryan M. Mock • Second Assistant Chief – Charles S. Marshal, V • Chief Engineer – James R. Wagner President Miller hails from the Oak Orchard community and has served as President for 13 terms of office and was previously Secretary, DVFA Alternate Delegate, Fire Police Officer and Safety Officer. Patrick has served on the BY-LAWS, Computer, Pension, Truck Acquisition, Vessel Committee, and Accident Investigation & Evaluation committees. He also has been awarded the Fireman of the Year on two previous occasions and has been awarded a Life Member status. Vice President Walker hails for the Warwick Park community and has served as Vice President for 4 terms of office and was DVFA Delegate, Deputy Chief, 2nd Assistant Chief, and Fire Police Officer. He also has served as President of the Sussex County Volunteer Firefighters Association. Secretary Mumford hails from the Oak Orchard community and has served as Secretary for 1 term of office. Trey joined the volunteer fire service in April, 2009. Assistant Secretary Ruckle hails from the River Village community and has served as Assistant Secretary for 2 terms of office. Candice joined the volunteer fire service in July, 2008. Treasurer Collas hails from the Oak Orchard community and has served as Treasurer for 7 terms of office and has previously served as Fire Police Captain, Fire Police Officer, and Treasurer. He also has served as Treasurer of the Sussex County Fire Police Association. Assistant Treasurer Cupery-Thompson hails from the River Winds community and has served as Assistant Treasurer for 7 terms of office. Katie joined the volunteer fire service in May, 2001. Chief Deery hails from the Oak Orchard-Riverdale communities and has served as Chief for the past 6 terms of office and was previously Deputy Chief, 1st Assistant Chief, 2nd Assistant Chief, Captain, DVFA Delegate, and DVFA Alternate Delegate. He has serves on the Ways & Means, Entertainment, Vessel Committee, Apparatus Acquistion, and Accident Investigation & Evaluation committees. Steven has been awarded the Fireman of the Year Award as well as being awarded a Life Member status. Chief Deery currently serves at the President of the Sussex County Fire Chiefs Association. Deputy Chief Ruckle hails from the Oak Orchard community and has served 1 term of office and has previously served 1st Assistant Chief, Rescue Captain, Fire Captain and has been awarded the Henry C. Warrington Award. Eric joined the volunteer fire service in November, 2008. First Assistant Chief Mock hails from the River Breeze community and has previously served as Second Assistant Chief, Lieutenant and has been awarded the Fireman of the Year, as well as the Henry C. Warrington Award. Ryan joined the volunteer fire service in May, 2000. Second Assistant Chief Marshal hails from the Long Neck community and has previously served as Ladder Captain. Charles joined the volunteer fire service in March, 2004. Chief Engineer Wagner hails from the Woodlyn Estates community and has served 8 terms of office and has previously served as Assistant Chief Engineer, and DVFA Delegate. He also served on the Entertainment, Vessel Committee, Truck Acquisition, and Accident Investigation & Evaluation committees. He also has been awarded the Henry C. Warrington Award as well as the Life Members status.
