Nature: Recognizing Upcoming Youth – Youth Leadership Award – Sussex County

Event:  Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association & Ladies Auxiliary Annual Conference

On Thursday, September 12^th, many volunteers of the Delaware Fire Service are attending the 25 Annual Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association & Ladies Auxiliary Annual Conference at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover, Delaware.

During the Opening Ceremonies, various recognitions and awards were distributed to well deserving recipients statewide.  One of these recipients representing Sussex County included:

• Casandra “Cassie” Burt – Fire Recorder @ Indian River Volunteer Fire Co., Inc.

Youth Leadership Award recipient was bestowed upon Cassie for getting involved to learn, to contribute, to communicate, and to stand up.  Cassie started as a firefighter and became an EMT striving to be the best you could be and pursuing an elected administrative position of Fire Recorder.

Cassie joined the DVFA Conference Committee for the 2019 event and her spirit, dedication, and work ethic was truly remarkable and contagious to all around her.
