American Education Week – November 14-19, 2011
The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company joins the many communities across the nation to celebrate American Education Week during the period of November 14-19. This event’s annual observance is now in its 90th year, honoring students' hard work to learn, recognizing the professionalism and dedication of teachers, support staff and other educators, thanking parents and members of the community who help students succeed, and rededicates the community at large to quality public education for every student.
A National Education Association (NEA) official, Dennis Van Roekel, recently stated during a kick-off celebration that “America’s students need all of us—educators, parents, students, elected officials and community leaders—working together and investing in their schools.”
Delaware Education Secretary – Dr. Lillian Lowery recently took a moment and thanked all for what is done every day to support our students in Delaware. Dr. Lowery deeply appreciate your commitment to making a difference in the lives of these students.
President Obama issued a proclamation recognizing the importance of educators across the country. It affirms that education is a core value to our country and integral to our nation’s future success: “Our Nation's schools can give students the tools, skills, and knowledge to participate fully in our democracy, and to succeed in college, career, and life.
The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company believes in the importance of education and recognizes that we all share in the responsibility to educate our children through collaboration and community partnerships.
Please take a moment to acknowledge our local educational professionals and express your thankfulness.
