Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 27421 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday afternoon, August 21^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Gull Point Road.  It was reported as a single vehicle accident with significant front-end damage after striking a telephone pole.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Chief 80-15 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard area and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck area as well as the local emergency medical services provider.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assistance with patient stabilization, traffic control, and incident mitigation activities.

It appears that a Honda SUV was traveling on John J. Williams Highway and left the roadway striking a utility pole for an unknown reason.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delmarva Power & Light Company was notified of the incident to replace the broken utility pole.  The utility services in the area may be temporarily shut off to allow for the installation of the new utility pole.

The local emergency medical service provider transported all vehicle occupants to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
