Tuesday October, 4 2011 @ 06:33:09 Nature: Vehicle Accident ALS Address: 26672 - 26673 John J Williams & Oak Orchard Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 On Tuesday morning, October 4th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle collision on John J. Williams Highway at the intersection of Oak Orchard and Mount Joy Roads. It was reported to have multiple vehicles, potential occupant entrapment and specific request for aviation. First Assistant Hayden Kinglier responded to the incident location and identified that a three (3) vehicle collision occurred and all vehicles were blocking the roadways in both east and west bound traffic lanes. It appears that a compact 4-door Hyundai (tan in color) type vehicle, a Chrysler minivan (white in color) collided causing the minivan to continue eastbound, traveling across westbound turn lanes and striking a roll-off trash truck from Buzzards Blue Hen. The compact car and the mini-van suffered extensive damage. Emergency service response units included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper #2), Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility; Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, the Delaware State Fire Police, and the Delaware State Police. After an immediate incident size-up, it was determined to have no patient entrapment, aviation was cancelled via the authority of the Sussex County Paramedics in consultation with the Office in Charge (Klingler), vehicle stabilizaiton tasks were assigned, as was traffic control measures, and scene and debris clean-up to open the traffic lanes upon removal of the damaged vehicles. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control measures for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
