Sunday, October 2, 2011 NASCAR - Dover Downs – October 2011 - National Fallen Firefighter Foundation Event On Sunday, October 4, 2011, Delaware State Fire Prevention Commissioner William F. Tobin, Jr. and various elected or appointed officers of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company attended NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series AAA 400 Race at Dover, Delaware to attend the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Event and Hospitality Village to recognize and raise funds for the foundation. This event included a continental breakfast; full lunch with beverages; snacks and refreshments; many promotional commodities provided by Mag Lights; Dewalt Tools; promotional shirts; lights; and camcorders; etc. The day long activities included track and pit road tours for the general participation; race day tickets; and hospitality village admission. By chance, Indian River ran into a NASCAR Relations personality – Lynn Rogers and was able to secure an exclusive tour of the internal pit crew areas; internal garage areas; NASCAR inspection and certification areas; driver’s meeting areas; media relations areas; viewed driver motor coach areas; fueling areas; some driver authographs were obtained as well as race team owner's signatures; photographs and much more. Illustrated herewith are various photographs of day’s activities.
