Nature: First Responders Complete Water Rescue II Training Curriculum
First responders have completed Water Rescue II Training Curriculum and techniques
Over the past few weeks during the month of August and September various members of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company enrolled and completed an additional 12 hour Water Rescue II Course taught via the Delaware State Fire School.
This course incorporated topics that addressed familiarization with objectives of the water rescue tasks which includes the vessel navigation rules and regulations; actual boat launching and operations; vessel preparation prior to docking or launching; truck and vessel maneuvering within boat ramp properties; vessel operations and docking; other marine navigational instrumentation and operations which include incident evaluation, towing, legal requirements, navigational aids, trailering as well as search and rescue responses.
The classroom portion of the Water Rescue 11 was held at the Main Station in Oak Orchard. The hands-on and water portion of the course was held at Pot Nets Seaside beach in Long Neck, Delaware.
The Delaware State Fire School Instructors were John Watson and Wally Evans.
