Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: Indian Mission Rd and Silicato Drive, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Tuesday, July 2^nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on Indian Mission Road at Silicato Drive.  It was reported to be motorcycle and a vehicle.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional alerts included the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper #2), the Sussex County Paramedics, and the local emergency medical service provider.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assistance with patient care if needed, traffic control, and incident mitigation measures.  The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit was cancelled enroute to the incident location.

It appears that a Chevrolet 1500 Pick Up pulling a small utility trailer entered the roadway in the path of the motorcycles.  One of the motorcycles struck the pick up at or near the driver’s side door causing damage and airbag deployment.  The operator of the motorcycle was transported to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police closed the affected section of Indian Mission Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
