Nature: Structure Fire
Address: 71 Park Ave Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971
On Sunday afternoon, September 11th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and the Lewes Fire Department was alerted to assist the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company with a working structure fire on Park Avenue within the city limits of Rehoboth Beach. The Georgetown, Memorial (Slaughter Beach) and Milton fire companies were alerted to provide stand-by coverage for designated companies.
It was reported via Rehoboth Beach Emergency Operations Center that fire and smoke were being emitted from the attic and roof areas of the structure. Rehoboth Beach Police went on scene and confirmed the earlier reports and advised responding apparatus of fire hydrant locations.
Emergency response apparatus from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Both engines responded directly into the incident location and were assigned to assist with fire suppression and ladder truck operations as well as clean-up.
There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident.

On September 11, 2011, at approximately 1338 hours, the Lewes Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Rehoboth Beach Fire Company with a reported working structure fire.
The fire was contained to the attic. Members assisted with overhaul and clean up.
