Wednesday June, 19 2019 @ 07:50 Nature: Vehicle Accident Location: 30259 Mount Joy Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 On Wednesday morning, July 19th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road between Cordrey Road and Cannon Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle accident involving a utility pole with wires down and pole snapped. Emergency response units from Indian River included Utility 80-11 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional response from the local emergency medical services provider was utilized as well. Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation, vehicle and scene stabilization, traffic control, and coordinating information for the respective utility copy. All traffic patterns on Mount Joy Road were closed for the duration of the incident. It appears that a Chevrolet Equinox sedan was traveling on Mount Joy Road and lost control striking a utility pole causing the pole to snap in half as well as falling into the path of the roadway. The vehicle's occupant refused any medical attention. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the incident pending arrival of the Delaware Department of Transportation and utility company flaggers. The Delaware State Police are investigating. |
