Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: 30556 Mounty Joy Road, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday evening, June 14^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road.  It was reported to be a pedestrian versus vehicle incident.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Command 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Sussex County Paramedics and the local emergency medical services provider.

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control and other incident mitigation measures.

The incident specifics were upgraded to correctly identify the nature of the incident to be a bicyclist versus a vehicle.  All responding fire apparatus were cancelled prior to arrival at the request of the Incident Command.

It appears that a vehicle traveling on Mount Joy Road and a bicyclist collided.  Mount Joy Road was closed for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
