Nature: Vehicle Accident – Vehicle Strikes Structure

On Monday, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to provide stand-by coverage for the Millsboro Fire Company (Station #83) that was at a working structure fire west of Millsboro.
Engine #80-1 responded to the Millsboro fire station on Main Street in Millsboro. Immediately upon arrival at Station #83, Millsboro was alerted for a vehicle accident on Holly Mount Road in the area of Hurdle Ditch Road and Indian Mission Road. The Sussex County Paramedics, Ambulance 83, the Delaware State Fire Police and the Delaware State Police were also alerted.
The incident report included a vehicle into a residential structure.
Engine #80-1 responded from Millsboro and was notified of the incident synopsis and updates provided by the Sussex County Paramedics.
Chief Deery was the apparatus officer and requested assistance with patient stabilization, if needed and secure the vehicle as well as evaluate and monitor the structure for additional stabilization efforts. The residential structured was not impacted structurally and the vehicle was stabilized by disconnecting the battery.
The female occupant of the vehicle was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional evaluation.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control measures by closing the section of Holly Mount Road that was impacted.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.

The Millsboro Fire Company (Station #83) was requested to assist the Gumboro Fire Company (Station #79) on a structure fire on Hudson Rd. 79 Command arrived reporting a 50 X 80 foot pole shed fully involved with fire and propane tanks were venting due to the excess heat. Millsboro assisted with extinguishment, overhaul, water supply, and support equipment. Indian River (Station 80) was requested to cover our fire district during the incident.
