Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Saturday morning, May 25^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident in the vicinity of the Catholic Church on John J. Williams Highway at the intersection of Oak Orchard Road, Mount Joy Road, and John J. Williams Highway.  It was reported to be a multiple vehicle chain reaction incident.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility, Utility 80-11 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included mitigation efforts which were:  traffic control, assistance with patient stabilization where needed, vehicle stabilization, and fluid and debris recovery

It appears that all vehicles were traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway at the traffic light area when a green Ford Ranger hauling a trailered Carolina Skiff boat struck the rear of white KIA Soul sedan that then struck a blue Chevrolet 1500 Pick-up.  The KIA Soul was sandwiched between the two vehicles and the boat did not remain fully tethered to the boat trailer which slid into the rear of the Ford Ranger pick-up.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

Only minor injuries were reported.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
