Thursday August, 25 2011 @ 05:21:23 Nature: Vehicle Fire Location: 2 MILES FROM RT 5 SUBSTATION Address: 24502 - 24801 Townsend Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 Early Thursday morning, August 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire on Townsend Road approximately two miles from the electrical sub-station on Indian Mission Road. Upon arrival of Engine #80-1, it was identified that an abandoned vehicle was on fire and fully burned beyond recognition. Engine #80-1 deployed a 1¾” fire suppression attack line to mitigate the incident. It appears that the vehicle was a Lincoln SUV product and was abandoned on the shoulder of the roadway. The origin of the fire is being evaluated. The Delaware State Police were on-scene and investigating. The Office of the State Fire Marshal was notified of the incident to conduct an investigation as well. There were no firefighter injuries.
