Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: 30076 Holly mount Rd., Harbeson, DE 19951

 

Early Sunday morning, May 12th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Holly Mount Road between Beaver Dam Road and Indian Mission Road.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision with one vehicle overturned and the other with a person trapped.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Fire Police, the Delaware State Police, and the local emergency medical services provider.

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control, vehicle stabilization, preparation for extrication, and assistance with patient stabilization if necessary.

Initial arriving emergency first responders identified one person trapped inside the upright vehicle and request for vehicle extrication to allow for EMS access to the occupant.  The other vehicle occupant(s) fled the scene prior to arrival of emergency first responders.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control measures for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police including a K-9 searched the area with negative results.

One Priority 2 patient was transported to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
