Nature: First Responders Receive Phoenix Award
On Saturday May 11, 2019, some of Indian River’s First Responders were presented with Phoenix Awards for responding and assisting in life saving efforts on an emergency medical call – specifically a cardiac arrest event.
The Phoenix Award is presented to emergency first responders who resuscitate a person in cardiac arrest. Various Sussex County Paramedics, local emergency medical responders and Indian River Volunteer Firefighters received this award during a ceremony on Saturday evening in Ellendale.

The Phoenix is a mythological bird that died and rose renewed from its own ashes.
