Tuesday August, 23 2011 @ 23:37:46 Nature: Residential Structure Fire Location: Residence Next Door Address: 30856 Friendship Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 On Tuesday evening August 23rd, the Indian River, Millsboro and Lewes fire companies were alerted for a working structure fire on Friendship Road in the development of Holiday Pines. The Sussex County Paramedics and the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office were alerted to respond as well. Duty Officer Charles Marshall arrived on-scene and identified that a single wide manufactured homes with additions was fully involved with heavy fire and smoke showing. There were exposure issues with nearby residential structures and storage structures. Engine #80-1; Tanker 80 and Rescue 80 responded from Indian River’s Oak Orchard Station; while Engine #80-3 and #80-5 responded from the Long Neck facility. Lewes and Millsboro fire companies both responded with engines and manpower resources as well. Engine #80-1 was assigned to initiate an aggressive fire suppression attack and activated three 1¾” hose lines while Engine #80-3 initiated a water supply resource pending arrival of Tanker 80. Tanker 80 initiated a continual water supply for the duration of the incident. An engine from Millsboro Fire Company was requested to activate a 1¾” fire suppression line. Various Indian River, Millsboro and Lewes manpower were rotated through the manpower resource pool in order to assist with fire suppression activities. Multiple efforts to access walls, flooring and decking were utilized in order to preserve the scene for determination of an appropriate origin. It was identified that all electrical resources and propane tanks were disconnected at the arrival time of the fire company. The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the roadway closure for the duration of the incident. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries and the residential structure was not occupied at the time of the incident. Additional information may be obtained at the following website: http://www.wgmd.com/?p=33082 Millsboro Fire Intentionally Set The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office says a blaze on Tuesday night in the Holiday Pines Mobile Home Park in Millsboro on Friendship Road was intentionally set. Firemen from Indian River, Lewes and Millsboro got the call around 11:30 p.m.; they found heavy fire in the front of the home when they arrived. No injuries were reported. Damage has been estimated at $8,500.
