Nature: Fire Prevention Instructional Program

On Wednesday, April 24, the Fire Prevention Committee of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company provided an instructional program for the children attending the Boys & Girls Club of Oak Orchard-Riverdale. 

The children were dispersed into two groups and everyone had an opportunity to watch Fire Prevention and educational videos; engage in questions and answers regarding fire safety topics such as stop, drop and roll, smoke alarms, escape plans and having a meeting place.  They also had an apparatus tour of Engine 80-1 in order to learn about the various tools and equipment on the apparatus.  They observed a firefighter donning bunker gear and an air pack with an explanation about the purpose of the turnout gear. 

Both the children and firefighters enjoyed the opportunity. Illustrated herewith are photographs of the activities.
