Story
Friday July, 29 2011 @ 07:06:47 Nature: Vehicle Fire Address: Chief Rd & River Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 On Friday morning, July 29th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire on Chief’s Road between River Road and Oak Orchard Road. Safety Officer Steven Hawkins was nearby and responded to the incident location. It was determined that the vehicle was driven off of the roadway, through the cornfield and caught fire via unknown origin. It was identified that the vehicle was self extinguished; however, nearby woods and brush was on fire as a result of the initial incident. Safety Officer Hawkins requested that the UTV 80 respond to the incident location to minimize the crop damage that could be developed as a result of a larger brush truck or engine apparatus. Indian River responded with Incident Command Unit #80-10; Brush #80-00; Brush #80-0 and Utility 80 and Polaris 80. The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police and the Delaware State Fire Marshal are investigating the incident. The vehicle was removed from the field and transferred to a nearby impound yard.
