Early Thursday morning, July 28th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire on Tern Cove in the Pot Nets Lakeside development off of Long Neck Road. Chief Steven Deery responded to the incident and assumed the incident command operations.
Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility, Engine #80-1 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility responded to the incident.

The initial vehicle was a medium sized, 4 door Mercedes Benz and the secondary vehicle was a medium sized, 4 door Pontiac Grand Prix as well as the exterior of the residential structure. Both vehicles and the residential structure suffered damage.
The engine and trunk compartments of the Mercedes Benz provided accessibility challenges and Rescue 80 was requested to mobilize their Hurst tool operations to assist with access in order to suppress any fire. The rear and front compartments of the vehicle was accessed via the Hurst tool devices.
The Delaware State Fire Police were present to assist with traffic control, security and overall assistance. The Delaware State Fire Marshal was requested to conduct an evaluation into the origin of the incident.
