Story
Wednesday July, 27 2011 Nature: Monthly Training and Drill Exercises Address: Oak Orchard On Wednesday evening, July 27th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company continued with its internal training requirements and coordinated training scenarios with respect to Water Rescue and Area familiarization within our fire district. The main objective of the discussions were to address water rescue incidents and how they could happen in areas that traditionally do not have rivers and bays but have excavation pits, inland bays, retention ponds, excessive flooding due to heavy rains. Secondly, the objective was to familiarization emergency responders with the areas of concern within our immediate fire district that include golf courses, drainage ditches, marshland and other areas. The activities included a classroom discussion and dialogue process with a power point presentation and a second hands-on component with vessel and equipment familiarization and operations.
