Story
Monday July, 18 2011 @ 22:28:04 Nature: Water Rescue Priority Address: 20721 - 20799 Mulberry Knoll R Lewes, DE 19957 On Monday evening, July 18th, the Rehoboth Beach, Indian River and Bethany Beach fire companies were alerted for a water rescue priority in or around the area of Mulberry Point between Mulberry Road and Old Landing Road in Rehoboth’s fire district. The incident involved two mariners that were stuck during low tide attempting to gain access back to Mulberry Point Boat Ramp. The Bethany Beach Marine Unit was launched from the Indian River Inlet area; the Indian River Marine Units were Massey’s Landing Public Boat Launch; and the Rehoboth Beach Marine was sent to the Mulberry Road – Mulberry Point area. Rehoboth Beach also requested emergency response units to Arnell Creek on Old Landing Road to evaluate conditions and offer a visual evaluation of the area with no success. The Rehoboth Beach 911 Center was able to maintain cell phone contact on a random basis to remain knowledgeable of their respective status. It appears that the mariners were able to gain access to land and walked to the marina. All units were cleared to return to their respective headquarters. The United States Coast Guard and the DNREC Fish & Wildlife Enforcement Officers were in the area waterways as well.
