All Terrain Vehicle (UTV-80) Placed In-service
Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is pleased to announce its recent procurement and activation for service an all-terrain vehicle to assist with brush, field and agriculture related incidents within our immediate fire district as well as neighboring fire districts. This vehicle procurement was a collaborative effort between the United Stated Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company. This unit will be identified UTV-80.
Indian River’s (manufactured by HMA Fire – www.HMAFire.com) T6 ERV is equipped with the Hydrus™ Ultra high pressure (UHP) system that has been thoroughly field tested and validated by certified firefighters from the military and municipal branches of the fire service for wildland, car and engine fuel, first response, structural, parking structures and ARFF. Designed to be scalable and travel light on any platform such as the HMA-preferred Polaris Ranger 6x6 UTV.

This unit was utilized at its first incidnet on June 2, 2011 during a field/brush fire on Long Neck Road at the former Dukes Boat Sale property.
The Apparatus Committee consisted of: Chairman James R. Wagner (Chief Engineer); Committee Member Steven C. Deery, Jr. (Chief); Committee Member Eric G. Ruckle (Deputy Chief); Committee Member Raymond J. Miller (Firefighter); and Committee Member Patrick C. Miller (President).
