Wednesday June, 15 2011 Nature: Funeral Procession On Wednesday afternoon, June 15th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company participated in the funeral arrangements and services of the late Dolores M. Miller. The funeral arrangements were developed and coordinated by Chief Steven C. Deery, Jr. for the participating firefighters and the reception after the funeral were coordinated by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company. Illustrated below is the obituary for Dolores M. Miller GEORGETOWN - Dolores M. Miller, 83, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 11, 2011. Born in Granite City, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Chester and Pearl Anna Davis Goudy, and was an only child. She was preceded by her husband of 49 years, the late Raymond A. Miller. She had seven children, and was devoted to her family. She loved to crochet, and sew and served for many years in the Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad. She was particularly fond of her years of service in the Foster Grandparents Program. She is survived by her children, Chere A. Riordan and her husband Edward of Millsboro, Susan L. Messick and her husband Ted of Millsboro, Barbara J. Layton of Lewes, Deborah A. Miller and her husband Irvin Johnson of Georgetown, Raymond "Jeff" Miller and his wife Bonnie of Wilmington, Patrick C. Miller of Millsboro, and Stephen J. Miller and his wife Beth of Millsboro; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members and friends across the area. She also leaves behind her beloved canine friend, "Baby La." Friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, with a viewing and visitation from noon till 2 p.m. Pastor Allen Miller will officiate. Interment follows at the Millsboro Cemetery. Flowers are welcomed, or for those wishing to contribute to a memorial in her memory, the family suggests the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro, DE 19966 Dolores was a Life Member of the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and served as an Emergency Medical Technician, Board of Director and Treasurer.
