On Wednesday morning, June 15th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for two emergency incidents back to back.

The initial emergency incident was a residential rescue situation that was reported via the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center as a vehicle fallen on a person.

It was reported that the vehicle was under repair and had fallen on the person under the vehicle.

It was immediately identified that the person was extricated from underneath the vehicle and transported to nearby medical facilities prior to arrival of fire company apparatus.

The second emergency was a medical assist incident on Crepe Myrtle Drive in the Gull Point development where Rescue 80, Engine #83-1 and Ambulance 83.

The Millsboro Fire Company was alerted as a result of a pre-arranged standby for Indian River and that fact that the local emergency medical service provider had multiple emergency incidents with Indian River’s fire district.
