Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 29863 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

Early Wednesday, January 23^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Millsboro (83) Fire Company with a structure fire on John J. Williams Highway near Walt Carmean Drive.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance to Millsboro with manpower as other tasks as assigned.

It appears that a fire may have originated in the basement area near the woodstove or fireplace which continued up the wall into the space between the basement and first floor.  Crews evaluated the interior structure into the attic and crawl spaces and were able to identify the areas of concern.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.  Segments of John J. Williams Highway was detoured via other roads in order to accommodate staging apparatus.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.
