Sunday May, 8 2011 @ 15:51:04 Nature: Grass Fire Address: 25900 - 26099 Redwing Lane, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Sunday afternoon, May 8th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a grass fire in the vicinity of Red Wing Lane, Rehoboth Shores, Long Neck and it was reported to have exposure issues. Fire Police Officer, Charles W. Frampton, Jr., was responding from the Bay City and advised that the initial trucks should access Bay City first as opposed to the Rehoboth Shore entrance. Brush #80-0 responded to the Bay City location and re-directed Brush #80-00 to Rehoboth Shores. Engines #80-2 and #80-1 responded from the Oak Orchard facility and were each directed to supply a brush truck at their respective fire suppression location. Brush truck crews were requested to initiate a fire suppression attack with their respective booster lines pending arrival of engine crews. Wet water, a fire suppression foam, was added to the water tanks to better saturate and soak the affected areas. The Officer in Charge, Ryan Mock, identified to the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center that a 50 foot area of grass, marsh reeds, and brush was impacted by the incident and placed the incident under control. All units were held on location pending an extensive mop up and soaking of the area. There were no injuries associated with the incident.
