Obituary – Jason M. Faulkner, Sr.
Jason Michael Faulkner, Sr., age 39, of Millsboro, DE passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Christiana Healthcare in Newark, DE.
He was born in Wilmington, DE on May 23, 1979 son of Donald C. Faulkner, Sr. and Sharon Rae (Trabbold) Faulkner. Jason was a 1998 graduate of Sussex Tech High School. He then served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1998 to 2002 with aircraft fire rescue.
Jason was currently employed as a dispatcher with the Emergency Operations Center since 2003. He joined the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company in July of 1996 and has served in multiple capacities from Second Assistant Chief, Captain and was the current Fire Lieutenant. Jason has been awarded the Green Cross Award as well as Indian River’s Firefighter of the Year and Top Incident Responder for many years. He has also served on the Sussex County Technical Rescue Team since 2008 and was also currently serving as Lieutenant and a member of AMVETS Post #22 in Millsboro, DE.
Jason was preceded in death by his sister, Rae Dana Faulkner; his maternal grandmother, Eileen and Charles Nash and paternal grandparents, Margaret and Conrad Faulkner. He is survived by the love of his life, Brittany King; his sons, Jason and Aiden Faulkner; his stepchildren, Morgan, Megan, Kaden, Kollin and Jase King; his parents, Sharon Rae and Donald Faulkner; his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Crystal Faulkner; his sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and George Bixby; his paternal grandfather, Raymond H. Trabbold, Sr.; his aunt Keeley Baker and her husband, Bill; his nieces and nephews, Tyler, Cameron and Savannah Faulkner and George and Landon Bixby and his brothers and sisters in the fire service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, 30839 Mt. Joy Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends and family may call after 10 AM. Interment with firefighter and military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Jason’s name to the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, 32628 Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
