Saturday April, 23 2011 @ 13:48:42 Nature: Traffic/TransportationAcdntBLS Address: John J Williams Hwy & Holly Lane, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Saturday afternoon, April 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle collision at or near the intersection of John J. Williams Highway and Holly Mount Road. However, the initial incident was reported to be at John J. Williams Hwy. and Holly Lake Road. It was reported to have a two vehicle collision with possible patient entrapment in one vehicle. Engine #80-5 responded from the Long Neck facility while Rescue 80 responded from the Oak Orchard facility. Both units were requested to provide vehicle stabilization measures and prepare for extrication of the person in the blue Chevrolet Cavalier sedan. The silver mini-van incurred significant damage but of the vehicle’s occupants were out of the vehicle. All persons needing medical attention were transportation to nearby medical institutions via the local ambulance service provider. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control measures for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating. Fire personnel extracted one person from one of the vehicles. The Delaware State Police are investigating. The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is pleased to identify that the Hurst – Jaws of Life – Green Cross was awarded to the emergency response personnel that operated these Jaws of Life tools at this incident.
