Sunday April, 10 2011 @ 16:28:30 Nature: Traffic / Transportation Acdnt ALS Address: 25054 - 25401 Banks Road, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Sunday afternoon, April 10th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper #2), the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Millsboro Volunteer Fire Company Ambulance was alerted for a motor vehicle incident on Banks Road involving a motorized scooter type moped. It was reported that a pink scooter was traveling on Banks Road between Long Neck Road and Green Road and lost control for an unknown reason while attempting to navigate the sharp curves. Emergency response personnel immediately requested the closure of Banks Road and to ensure that aviation was available. Engine #80-5 was directed to the scene while Rescue 80 and Engine #80-1 was assigned to coordinate a landing zone for Trooper #2 and assist with traffic control near the designated assignment. The Delaware State Fire Police closed Banks Road at Long Neck Road and Green Road for the duration of the incident. The Delaware Department of Transportation was requested to coordinate traffic control assistance. The Delaware State Police requested their accident reconstruction team to respond to the incident. The motorcyclist was not able to be transported via aviation and was transferred via ground units to nearby medical facilities. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
