Tuesday March, 1 2011 @ 22:26:50 Nature: Traffic/TransportationAcdntALS Location: No Idea Restaurant Address: 25909 - 26018 School Ln Millsboro, DE 19966 Late Monday evening, March 1st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a multiple vehicle accident on Long Neck Road in the vicinity of the No Idea Restaurant. The incident was overheard by members hanging around Station #2 off of Long Neck Road. It appears that a silver Pontiac Grand Prix struck the rear of a black Pontiac Grand Prix. The silver vehicle continued north on Long Neck Road leaving the roadway and striking a telephone pole near the entrance to Baywoods. Upon arrival of Indian River’s Duty Officer – Ryan Mock, it was identified to have a two vehicle collision with one vehicle remaining in the intersection and other vehicle continued traveling north before striking a utility pole. Engine #80-5 responding from the Long Neck Station was assigned to mitigate the incident that was located in the intersection of School Lane, Banks Road, and Long Neck Road. Rescue 80 was assigned to mitigate the incident at the entrance to Baywoods. In both scenarios, the vehicle stabilization measures included: battery disengagement, debris clean-up and fluid absorption measures. Rescue 80 was later required to relocate to the intersection to gain access to the vehicle’s trunk compartment. The Delaware State Police coordinated traffic for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
