Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 28527 Ok Waw Ave, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday evening, Thanksgiving Day, November 22, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Lewes (82) fire companies were alerted for a residential structure on Okwaw Avenue in Riverdale.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Sussex County Paramedics, the local EMS provider, and the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Living around the corner from this incident location, Assistant Chief Perrine quickly arrived on scene to find a small fire on the B side of the residential structure. Tanker 80’s crew pulled an attack line and quickly stopped the fire. Engine 80-3 and Engine 80-1’s crews assisted with checking for extension. 80 Command reduced the assignment to Indian River units. One engine from Millsboro and one from Lewes stood by at our station, until our apparatus could be released.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control for the duration of the incident.

There were no reported injuries.
