Nature: Residential Structure Fire
Location:  28002 Sloop Avenue, Pot Nets Bayside, Long Neck, DE 

On Wednesday, November 14, 2018, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82) and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for a structure fire on Sloop Avenue in the Pot Nets Bayside development off of Long Neck Road.  It was reported to being a working structure fire. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.   Additional ancillary alerts included the local emergency medical services provider and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response unit assignments arrived and found a single wide manufactured home with addition fully involved with flames showing from side A.  Crews immediately initiated attack lines and commenced with fire suppression efforts.  Other arriving units assisted with the suppression efforts, overhaul and saturation (wet down) assignments.  The family feline perished in the incident.  The structure was a complete loss as well as all personal belongings.

This fire completely displaced the entire family including grandparents and their three grandchildren that resided at the structure.  The American Red Cross was notified to coordinate assistance. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the traffic control assignment.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
