Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

On Friday evening, November 9, 2018, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road between Cordrey Road and Cannon Road.  It was reported to be a single vehicle rollover involving a utility pole.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, and incident mitigation pending arrival of Delaware Electric Cooperative.  The Sussex County Paramedics and local emergency service provider were alerted for the incident as well.

It appears that a white Ford Pick Up was traveling on Mount Joy Road and left the roadway for an unknown reason overturning and striking a utility pole causing the pole to snap in two.  The occupants of the Ford Pick Up truck departed the incident location prior to arrival of emergency response units.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the roadway closure for the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
