Nature: Wires Down/Arching

Early Friday morning, October 12th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a reported wire down incident involving a large tree that fell. The tree was across the roadway and brought down overhead electrical wires.
Emergency response units included 80 Command from the Oak Orchard area and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Representatives from the Delaware Electric Cooperative were also requested to respond to the incident location.
Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control if necessary, identification of determination of primary electrical wirings, notification of the utility service provider, secured the perimeter of the incident, and waited for responders from the utility service provider.
Upon arrival of the electric company all emergency apparatus was cleared to return to their respective station.
These high winds and inclement conditions were remnants of the Hurricane Michael passing through the area.
