Story
Saturday January, 15 2011 @ 11:10:59 Nature: Structure Fire Address: 24818 - 25079 Cannon Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 On Saturday, January 15th a passerby inquired about a control burn on Cannon Road and determined that this was a residential structure fire fully involved. The Sussex County Operations Center alerted the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, Millsboro Fire Company and the Lewes Fire Department for a working structure on Cannon Road. Chief Deery responded as Apparatus Officer via Engine #80-1 and as approaching the incident requested an additional request for two (2) additional water tanks – one from Milton Fire Company and one from Dagsboro Fire Company. Chief Deery received numerous updates from the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center regarding the incident and whether the residential structure was vacant or occupied. Chief Deery ordered fire suppression attack lines to perform exterior attacks only. Engine #80-3 was assigned to initiate water supply until arrival of Tanker 80 and 82. Dagsboro and Lewes Fire Company were also re-directed to provide standby coverage for Indian River’s Main Station and Long Neck Station. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries and the Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating. The Delaware State Fire Police provide traffic control measures for the duration of the incident.
