Nature: Wires Down/Arching

Location: In the area of (ITAO) John J Williams Hwy and Banks Road, Millsboro, DE 19966

 

Late Thursday evening, September 6th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a wire downs / wires arching incident on John J. Williams Highway near the intersection of Banks Road across from the Verizon Building. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80, Command 80, Rescue 80 and Engine 80-3 was well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included identification of incident, notification of the utility service providers via the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center, closure of John J. Williams Highway to minimize hazardous conditions, traffic control in order to isolate and monitor the situation.

The utility service provider did attend and attempted to mitigate the active fire and wire conditions.

John J. Williams Highway remained closed in order to assist with the mitigation efforts.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control.
