Nature: House Fire

Location: 213 Joanne Dr., John Burton Manor, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday, August 29^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a house fire on Joanne Drive in the John Burton Manor Development off of American Legion Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Incident Command 80 and Rescue 80 from the Long Neck facility.  The Incident Command arrived and did an initial evaluation and upgraded the alarm to a structure fire requesting assistance from the Millsboro Fire Company and local emergency medical services for rehab purposes due to the high temperatures.

Emergency response crews found fire within the crawl space and walls of the structure and were able to quickly halt the fire’s progression.  Additional efforts for fire suppression and ventilation were completed.  This is the same location as the fire on August 27th and all of the utilities were shut-off because of the previous fire damage.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating.
