Nature: Community Meeting in Oak Orchard

Time: 7 pm - 9 pm
On Wednesday, August 15th, the Honorable State Representative Ruth Briggs-King (R) hosted a Community Meeting for all community residents to attend and participate if desirous. The meeting was also attended by the Honorable State Senator Gerald Hocker. Both elected officials represent the Oak Orchard-Riverdale area as their constituents.
In attendance was representatives from many state agencies and other elected officials as well. Representatives from the following agencies were present to participate:
Delaware Department of Transportation (DELDOT)
Delaware State Police (DSP)
Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA)
Delaware Dept. of Natural Resources & Environmental Control (DNREC)
Additionally, prospective candidates for elective office were present as well.
The following items were discussed:
· Drainage and Flooding Concerns:
o Mercer Avenue – drainage work and culverts anticipated for 2019
o River Road – drainage and bulkheading work anticipated
· Community Development Concerns:
o Information (names and addresses) were taken for Sussex County. These are Sussex County concerns and their comments and thoughts would be shared with the respective county entities.
