On Saturday, August 4th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle involving a pedestrian.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Command 80, Rescue 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility.  The Sussex County Paramedics and local emergency medical service provider also responded.

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance with patient stabilization if needed, traffic control, and scene preservation if needed.

It appears that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the Nanticoke Crossing Shopping Center near the Weis Food Market.  Command 80 was able to determined that the pedestrian suffered minor injuries and quickly downgraded the apparatus response to Rescue 80 thereby returning all other units.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
